I don’t want Marty to leave (or resign from) the show…
.. UNLESS it means Ben can come back. I know that it is impossible, therefore Marty should ride it out.
+ PLUS – I wan’t to see him do ‘No Woman No Cry’ which is the judges choice for him this week. I am feeling sorry for Marty, I blame dicko. As much as Marty initially annoyed me, he did grow on me – I am kind of enjoying him. I don’t think he REALLY wanted to go home.. but what was he to say when Dicko told Australia not to vote for him, I think he was saving face.
The media and ‘forum’ers are now turning against Ben because he ‘appears’ to be happy to leave the show and continue his film career. I think that is being too harsh on the boy, what do you want him to say? At least he hasn’t got sour grapes and feeding conspiracy theories about voting mis-calculations. I think he is taking it well, and looking at the bright side =)
ALSO: Marcia should definitely NOT quit idol at the end of this year, if anyone is to go – it should be Mark!
WHAT a controversial week it has been for Idol.
p.s I know that I have been promising a blog on the judges, and in particular Dicko and Mark’s comments towards Ben, but I think I am going to move past it! I think it is WAY too overly dramatic to call for boycott’s etc on the show because Marty is still a contestant. There are greater travesty’s that are far more improtant, for example the fact that MARK is still a judge on the show after his extremely idiotic comments and actions this year.

thanks j.d. But i gotta say that i do not think Marty deserves to be there. Like hes not terrible! But there are singers like Mark and Ben who would perform much better every week…i dunno what Australia sees in Marty, cause im sure not getting it.

i agree.ben was very good.however there is nothing we csn do to save him now.
and that isnt martys fault. so we should just enjoy his unique singing while his there bcuz once marty leaves we are left with the same old boring voices.

Poor Marty,
even thought i don’t like his voice, what they did to him is so unfair & so unaustralian. This is a competition and it should be fair. The judges put him there in first place, he stay because there are people still like him (not me though)…. so give the guy a break

as much as i don’t like marty .. what the media and the judges and a whole chunk of australia did to him was just slack. to me he has no talent, but obviously some ppl think he does =/ (heaven forbid)

There’s something plastic and calculated about all the remaining contestants, except Marty. He is earthy if nothing else, his voice is highly recognisable, and he’s unpretentious. Listening to the mp3s, without the distracting video, Marty’s songs are the only ones worth hearing repeatedly, specially ‘Open your eyes’. Though I wish he’d leave off the excuses about covers not being his thing etc. I don’t know any great artists who have not enjoyed singing other people’s songs at one time or another. Far better to just say ‘hey I’m not used to this but it’s a great learning experience and I hope to get better’.
On Ben’s leaving comments – give the kid a break, he’s got a big mouth, and did not have the experience to suck up and say it was tragic etc. I’m sure disappointment would have sunk in 15 mins after the show. Mark and Marcia should both leave. Don’t even think I need to say why.

Marty was voted to remain on Idol because more people voted for him than for Ben. Thats how it is. Marty cannot control how people vote and he is to be admired for coming back time and again and getting on with it.

Marty what an absolute artist, it would be a a devastating decision for such an original contestant to leave. I think he has earned the right to be where he is in the top 6. PLEASE STAY MARTY, WE LOVE YOU
